Biscuits

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups Just About Foods Organic all-purpose flour 
  • ½ teaspoon Just About Foods Xanthan Gum*  
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder 
  • 1 teaspoon salt 
  • 2 tablespoons sugar 
  • ¾ cup buttermilk  
  • 6 tablespoons cold butter 
  • 1 egg

PREPARATION METHOD:

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F 
  2. Cut the butter into cubes and keep it in the freezer until needed, approximately 5-10 minutes. 
  3. In a large bowl whisk the dry ingredients and add the freezed butter. With a dough cutter or two butter knifes, incorporate the butter to the dry ingredients until the mixture looks like wet sand. Pour in the buttermilk, with a wooden spoon mix until a sticky dough is form.  
  4. Using an icecream scoop, scoop the dough into a lined baking sheet and brush the top of the biscuits with milk. 
  5. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Take out the biscuits from the oven and serve them warm.
