Servings per recipe: 20 servings
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 ¼ cups Just About Foods Organic All-Purpose Flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 ½ tablespoon brown sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 medium size eggs, room temperature
- 4 cups frying oil
- 1 cup white sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
PREPARATION METHOD:
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, brown sugar, salt and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon, set aside.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, pour in the milk and butter and let it come to a boil. Remove from the heat, add into the liquids the dry mix and with a wooden paddle fold in the mix until homogeneous and fully integrated. Place the pan over low heat and mix vigorously until the dough leaves a thin film on the bottom of the pan, remove from the heat, and let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Fold in one egg at a time to the cooled mixture until fully incorporated and no egg is seen. Scoop the dough into a piping bag with a star tip.
- In a heavy bottom pot over medium-low heat, heat the oil until it reaches 350°F. Pipe the dough making a circular motion over the oil using a chopstick to cut to your desired length. Fry until the bottom turns golden brown and flip them over using cooking tongs. Don’t over crowd the pot.
- When the churro is golden brown on both sides remove from the pot and put it on a cooking rack over kitchen paper and let it cool for a few minutes. While the churros are still warm to the touch toss them in a large bowl with the white sugar and ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon. Serve warm and enjoy!
