"Pan de Muerto" Gluten Free

INGREDIENTS:

  • ¼ cup milk
  • ¼ cup soft butter
  • ¼ cup water
  • 3 cups All Purpose Gluten-Free Baking Flour
  • 2 tsp xanthan gum
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 3 beaten eggs
  • 2 tsp orange zest
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • ¼ cup white sugar

 

PREPARTION METHOD:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a pan, heat the milk and water at 110°F (45°C) and add the active dry yeast. Once combined, let it rest for 15 mins. In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients (all-purpose Gluten-Free flour, xanthan gum, salt, orange zest and white sugar). Add in ½ cup of soft butter, warm milk-water mixture, 3 beaten eggs and mix thoroughly. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead slightly with floured hands. Place the dough into a lightly greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size. Split the dough and shape it into round loafs with a round knob on top and thin sticks on sides. Let them rest for 30 minutes. Then, bake for about 40 mins. In another bowl, mix ¼ cup of orange juice and ½ cup of melted butter. Remove loafs from the oven and let cool. Cover with the orange juice mixture and sprinkle with white sugar. Serve and enjoy!
