Blue Corn Vegan Tamales

  • 1 cup blue corn flour
  • 3 ½ tbsp vegetable lard
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable seasoning
  • 1 pack corn husk
  • Kernel corn or mushrooms for filling

In a bowl, mix vegetable seasoning with water. Once combined, add in a cup of blue corn flour and mix thoroughly until you get a smooth and thick batter. Add vegetable lard and repeat the last step. Hydrate with water the corn husks from 3 to 5 minutes. Lay the soaked corn husk on a flat surface, spread the batter onto it and add kernel corn or mushrooms for filling. Once added, fold the corn husks in half vertically. Place the tamales into a stovetop and let them steam for 50 minutes.
